This score is this site's own. It measures how accessible the lottery is without a large balance — not the chance that you will win. The same calculation is used on the Japanese pages.

The rules here

💰Upfront deposit

Needed by the time of the draw, not when you apply.

🎯How the lottery works

70% is a fully equal draw, plus a 30% second draw with weighted tickets.

🎫The weighted second draw

Five conditions, including being 39 or under and holding a NISA account, each add a ticket.

🆓Fees

None, either to apply or to buy.

👨‍👩‍👧Accounts for under-18s

Teen accounts, from lower secondary school age to 17, can take part.

From applying to owning

  1. Enter the lottery

Pick the listing from the search screen in the app and apply.

  2. Fund the account before the draw

The estimated purchase cost must be in place by the time the draw runs.

  3. Check the result

Results appear in the app on the announcement day. Losing still puts you into the weighted second draw for the remaining 30%.

  4. Confirm that you want to buy

If you won or are in reserve, complete the purchase in the app within the window.

  5. Wait for the listing day

You can place sell orders from 05:30 on the morning of the listing.

Worth knowing before you apply

  • If the money is not confirmed in your account when the draw runs, you are excluded. Applying is not the last step.
  • Winning lapses if you do not complete the purchase step, and a completed purchase cannot be cancelled.

Who this suits

  • People who want to do everything from a phone
  • People who meet the weighted conditions, such as being 39 or under or holding a NISA account
  • People wanting more entries into listings underwritten by the Daiwa group

Why this one

Seventy per cent of the shares go into a fully equal draw open to every applicant. The remaining 30% is a second draw among those who lost, and here the tickets are weighted by five conditions: being 39 or under, holding a NISA account, holding a margin trading account, having an open margin position, and running a regular investment trust contribution. Meeting more of them means more tickets, up to six. Being young or using a NISA account genuinely helps, which is unusual and suits people starting out.

When Daiwa Securities underwrites a listing, this broker can take part as a delegated underwriter. The parent requires funds at the moment you apply; here you have until the draw itself, which is easier on your cash.

Everything from opening the account to buying happens in the app. Teen accounts can apply too, so a family can take part as more than one person.

About the company

A relatively new broker in the Daiwa Securities group, built entirely around smartphone trading. Opening an account and trading are both done in the app, and it also offers fractional investing from a single share.
