This score is this site's own. It measures how accessible the lottery is without a large balance — not the chance that you will win. The same calculation is used on the Japanese pages.

The rules here

💰Upfront deposit

None at all. Zero balance is fine both when you apply and when the draw runs.

🎯How the lottery works

10% is a fully equal draw, the other 90% is tiered.

🏆The tiers

Your ticket count, from 1 to 100, depends on last month's trading and balance.

👌Declining

Allowed freely, with no penalty.

From applying to owning

  1. Enter the lottery

From the IPO and PO screen after logging in, choose the listing and number of shares. No money needed.

  2. Check the result

The draw normally runs on the business day after the offer price is set. Results are also sent by email.

  3. Fund the account

If you won or are in reserve, deposit what the purchase requires.

  4. Say whether you want it

Choose buy or decline on the confirmation screen.

  5. The win is confirmed

Overnight processing takes the money and confirms the allocation.

Worth knowing before you apply

  • If your balance falls short after you have said you want to buy, you must fix it the same day — instant funding closes at 16:00 — or the allocation is void.
  • No confirmation email is sent when your application is accepted. Check the application list yourself.

Who this suits

  • People who want to raise their number of entries while holding a zero balance
  • People who prefer to decide about buying only after they have won, since declining is free
  • People using this alongside SBI Securities to widen their coverage

Why this one

Even at brokers advertised as requiring no deposit, the money usually has to be there by the time of the draw. Here you need nothing until you have actually won. You can apply for every listing with an empty account and only fund it when something lands. Nothing else makes it this easy to simply apply for everything.

Declining after a win carries no penalty either. You may choose to decline on the confirmation screen and nothing happens. Deciding after the fact is allowed, which is rare and forgiving for beginners.

Ten per cent of the shares go to a fully equal draw with no regard to trading history. The other 90% is tiered by last month's trading value and balance, giving between 1 and 100 tickets, so the more you use this as your main account the better you do. But someone with no history at all is always in that 10% pool.

About the company

An online-only broker in the SBI group, formerly Livestar Securities. It is known for low-cost pricing aimed at day traders. It sometimes takes part in IPOs as a delegated underwriter, which is why many people hold an account here alongside SBI Securities.
