What stands out

  • Revenue of about 7.7 billion yen in the year to August 2025 (up 20.5%), with same-store sales up in both ramen and restaurants
  • Revenue up 21.6% and operating profit up 27.9% in the first nine months of the year to August 2026
  • Earns income not only from company-run stores but also from produce and licensed stores run by other operators

What could go wrong

  • Raw material and labor costs keep rising, and the company says it is responding by revising menus and prices
  • Revenue grew in the year to August 2025, but net profit fell 4.7% partly because of impairment losses
  • It books yearly amortization of goodwill (the premium paid over book value) from a company it acquired in 2018

About the company

A restaurant company expanding ramen shops such as "Ramen Hayashida", the pizza and pasta chain "CONA" and "Shumai no Joe", through both company-run and partner-run stores.

How it makes money

The business has two pillars, ramen and restaurants; in the year to August 2025 ramen made up about 53% of revenue and restaurants about 47%. Most revenue comes from company-run stores, but it also earns income from "produce" stores in ramen, where other operators run shops built on its know-how, and from licensed stores in restaurants. At the end of May 2026 it had 45 company-run and 72 produce ramen stores, and 37 company-run restaurants (including 23 CONA and 11 Shumai no Joe) plus 31 licensed restaurants.

Where growth is meant to come from

Its main growth driver is opening new stores, and for the year to August 2026 it plans 19 new company-run stores, 11 ramen and 8 restaurants. In the year to August 2025 it launched new brands including "Yokohama Iekei Ramen Midori", and in 2026 it opened in Sendai, its first stores in the Tohoku region. For the year to August 2026 it forecasts revenue of 9.59 billion yen (up 24.0%) and net profit of 339 million yen (up 24.8%), a forecast it kept unchanged at the third quarter (July 2026).
