A drug discovery start-up whose ibVIS platform designs small-molecule drugs aimed at messenger RNA, working with pharmaceutical companies to create the seeds of new medicines.
The company does not sell medicines itself. Its business is a drug discovery platform run together with pharmaceutical firms. Its own technology, ibVIS, analyses the three-dimensional structure of messenger RNA on a computer to find the spot worth targeting and the small molecules that can bind to it. It has joint research contracts with Japanese pharmaceutical and chemical makers including Takeda Pharmaceutical and Toray, and earns upfront and research-support payments plus milestone payments each time a project clears a stage. If a drug reaches approval, licence income would follow later.
The company treats 2025 to 2027 as its medium-term plan period. Alongside the platform business it runs with partners, it has begun developing drug candidates of its own. Its stated goal is to become a specialty pharma company with medicines of its own by 2030, running both models side by side.
